Plain-English summary: JarSlice is a budgeting tool, not a bank. The web version runs entirely in your browser — your financial figures never leave your device. The mobile app stores data on your phone only. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads.
1. Overview
JarSlice is operated by Manorlds Eaglespark Ltd, a company registered in Uganda ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use:
- The free web app at jarslice.com
- The JarSlice mobile app (Android and iOS)
By accessing or using JarSlice you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:
- Income figures and allocation data — the numbers you enter into the calculator.
- Currency preference — the currency you select for display.
- App settings — theme (light/dark), chosen allocation system, custom jar percentages.
- Saved allocation history — budget entries you choose to save in the app.
- Income profile names — labels you give to profiles (Pro feature on mobile).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Browser / device type — collected by our hosting infrastructure for security and performance purposes.
- Approximate country — inferred from IP address to pre-select a currency. The IP address itself is not stored.
- Error and crash reports — anonymous technical logs to help us fix bugs.
- Page views — aggregated, anonymised analytics to understand which features are used (no personally identifiable information).
2.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact details unless you write to us voluntarily.
- We do not collect your bank account, card numbers, or any payment instrument.
- We do not build profiles tied to identifiable individuals.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve the JarSlice web and mobile apps.
- Restore your settings and saved history between sessions.
- Respond to support requests you send us.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not use your data to serve advertisements, sell to third parties, or for any purpose unrelated to operating JarSlice.
4. Local Storage — Your Data Stays on Your Device
All financial data you enter into JarSlice — income amounts, allocations, currency, saved history — is stored only on your own device using browser localStorage (web) or SharedPreferences (mobile). This data is never transmitted to our servers.
This means:
- Clearing your browser data or app cache will permanently delete your saved history.
- Your data is not backed up by us and cannot be recovered if lost.
- Uninstalling the mobile app removes all locally stored data.
5. Third-Party Services
JarSlice uses a small number of trusted third-party services. Each is listed below along with the data it may access:

Frankfurter.app — provides exchange rate data for the currency conversion feature. When you request a conversion, your device sends a request to
api.frankfurter.appcontaining only the base currency code (e.g., "USD"). No financial amounts or personal data are sent. Rates are cached on your device for up to one hour. See frankfurter.app for their privacy policy. - Google Fonts (web) — used to load the Inter typeface. Google may log font-request metadata. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play / Apple App Store (mobile) — handle app distribution and in-app purchase transactions. We do not receive your payment card details; these are managed entirely by Google or Apple. See their respective privacy policies for details.
We do not use third-party advertising networks, tracking pixels, or social media widgets that collect your data.
6. Exchange Rate Data
Exchange rates shown in JarSlice are sourced from Frankfurter.app and are provided for indicative, informational purposes only. They may not reflect real-time market rates. JarSlice is not a financial services provider and the exchange rate feature should not be relied upon for currency transactions, remittances, or trading decisions.
7. Mobile App Permissions
The JarSlice mobile app may request the following device permissions:
- Internet access — required to fetch live exchange rates and to process in-app purchases.
- Storage / SharedPreferences — to persist your settings and saved allocations locally on your device.
- Home Screen Widget (Android) — to display your current allocation on your home screen. All data displayed is read from local storage on your device; nothing is sent externally.
We request no access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, or any other sensitive permission.
8. In-App Purchases
The JarSlice mobile app offers a one-time, non-recurring purchase called JarSlice Pro. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Google Play or Apple App Store. Manorlds Eaglespark Ltd does not receive, store, or process your payment card details. We only receive a confirmation token from the relevant store confirming that the purchase was completed.
The web version of JarSlice at jarslice.com is and will remain completely free with no purchases required.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The JarSlice website uses:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function (e.g., CSRF token, session security). These cannot be disabled.
- Functional cookies / localStorage — to remember your currency preference, theme, and saved data between visits.
We do not use marketing cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or behavioural advertising cookies. You may clear cookies and site data at any time through your browser settings, but doing so will delete your locally saved allocations.
10. Data Retention
Because your financial data is stored only on your own device, you control how long it is kept. We do not hold copies of your data on our servers. Any anonymised, aggregated analytics data we collect is retained for up to 24 months and cannot be linked back to you personally.
11. Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete personal data we hold (note: financial data on your device can only be deleted by you).
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing of your personal data.
- Portability — receive your personal data in a portable format.
- Objection — object to our processing on the basis of legitimate interests.

12. Children's Privacy
JarSlice is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will also display a notice within the app. Your continued use of JarSlice after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
